Then and now

To measure progress in ones art is never easy. I think it requires a lot of faith. But regardless I think it can be done.So I took an old painting I did 3 years ago and tried to reinterpret it again.
This what I came up with, I felt my head was in the right spot in that time , but I could easily remembered how scared I was to take chances in my art , impress people , get a job etc.

So This time around I tried to eliminate those things in my mind ,

new one
old one

Hope yall dig

aww noo! the bottom one appears to be painted in a different style than your current one so i guess i wasn't sure. and i'm not the best at judging things either! XP.

Yeah the bottom one looks like it's stylized on purpose and could be in something more animation / 2d game based while the first one is more film/live action based

Not to say you haven't improved though! Plus it's good to have lots of styles under your belt. I actually just purchased the Tangled art book and I saw some really cartoony artwork side by side with craig mullins haha

I really, really enjoyed this. The humor works brilliantly, and the animation is much better than I had imagined. The way you have “blended” (hehe) it all together makes this look like a solid, whole product, as good as any Pixar short. Probably better. But then again: That’s my opinion.
