inspired by thomas moran , dorje , odyssey to the west, and the wonderful clouds in Spain , 2 hours CS5 .

3 lunches later ............. I've been skippin lunches to paint for an hour instead . Luckily in Spain we get a 15 min break at 11 in which we go to a restaurant and eat bread with tomato sauce with orange juice for 2 euros. It's pretty filling!! So skipping lunches it is , if it helps me get better!!

Always live free and do what you love my friend . that is all. Steffie comes in about 3 weeks . I am very excited for I have not seen her in 2 months , and it will be 3 months come august. I just wish the days would go by faster. This one is for her.

To measure progress in ones art is never easy. I think it requires a lot of faith. But regardless I think it can be done.So I took an old painting I did 3 years ago and tried to reinterpret it again.
This what I came up with, I felt my head was in the right spot in that time , but I could easily remembered how scared I was to take chances in my art , impress people , get a job etc.

So This time around I tried to eliminate those things in my mind ,

Live Streamin Morning Warm Up

So I woke up a little late this morning and did a little live stream warm up . I didn't announce it just because I wanted to simply jam to my music and paint , If I usually have to talk then I can get distracted from time to time and it takes longer .

Some Art Therapy

So I started this a quick Warm up at work yesterday , Took random photos mashed em all together. I began to kind of like it so I took it home and finished it up .

Don't usually do sci-fi stuff haha but i like to do it , so more sci-fi to come , thanks to all who came out to the live stream to support ,

Live Streamin

Here is the painting done from last night's live streams , It was about 1 and a half of painting , and then I woke up this morning and spent about 2-3 more hours , so about 5-6 hours total. ( Still kind of long when I think about it , I could easily be faster, just need to concentrate a little more)

What Started as a Demo

What started as a demo for my co worker/roommate Rob. Became kind of a full colored illustration/concept.

Big ups to edgar for all his suggestions while painting this , he even drew a basic shape of the monster on that bridge and I took it to a rendered finish. This is one benefits about living with other artists , is how they can push you and challenge your ideas while painting. Not to mention all the inspiration they can provide as well

This one of the more complex pieces I ever done , I kind of wanted a final fantasy type enviro with lots of people running around , more of a thriving environment as opposed to my usual stuff.

This is about 8 hours total , kind of long in my opinion , I think I can be faster.

until then , We are having a house warming poker even at our apartment , wish me luck!!!

For My Lady

For my lady , I am usually painting a lot more since she is back in the states getting prepared to move out here in august. It has been the longest I have been away from her so painting helps me keep my mind off the distance.

So anyway love you very much , and always thinking of you

Freelance Warm Up

A little warm up before I start some freelance ish , my attempt to be like dorje bellbrook ( one of my fav artist) haha , fail , ne ways hope all is well with everyone

So I finally got my computer set up , I am surprised it made it through the long plane ride. Everything seems to be in order so I did a quick painting test to make sure everything is good before I start taking on any freelance.

Anyways This took about 4 hours total in CS5 , it was all done with one chalky brush and some custom shape tools. It was only when I was about 90% done with that I began to add photo texture in the foreground.

I usually add photo textures in the middle or beginning , so this was a different way of approaching it. I will try more tests . Ill try to do some live stream tests to as well. Make sure everything is working on that end . Anyways , thanks for looking

Last Day In California

I can't put into words how blessed I feel to have friends that care about me so much. All these dudes came out to give Edgar,Danny, and myself their blessings as we make our journey to Madrid.

I have no clue what this new experience has in store for me , but I hope it will change me for the better. So I wanted to say thanks to all my friends , new and old. Over the course of 5 years these guys have become my family. They have all contributed something in my art with their , knowledge and passion. I know I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for these guys. 

So I will miss you guys , but it's not goodbye . For I know our paths will cross in a few years time. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING GUYS , I HOPE I CAN MAKE YOU PROUD!!

Sucker Punch Study

As a concept artist I will say I throughly enjoyed Sucker Punch . It's kind of like watching Ninja Assasin . You are not expecting some crazy deep story , you are expecting NINJA'S fucking up people. So in short everything I was expecting from Sucker Punch was delivered to me, and in some cases exceeded my expectations.

I was quite inspired by the environments that as soon as I got home I tried to paint some of the memorable compositions I saw. I will have to grab the art book too.

As I was driving today to go work on my freelance , I noticed the clouds in HB were friggin awesome , I didn't have my camera on me ( shame on me ) so I took a picture of it on my crappy phone and started painting it up . Clouds after rains storms are the best , tank was an after thought lolol

i-phone case!

So awhile back GrifMD from DevArt asked if he could use my Mirrors Edge piece for a print. I don't mind as long as people ask . I had no idea what he was printing it for , but apparently it was an i-phone case!!

When he showed me I was pretty amazed of how it came out , so I asked him to take some pictures of it so I can post it on my blog

i don't have an i-phone but this looks pretty damn cool if you ask me! I wanna get a case for my phone now : )
