Lighting Practice

I recently acquired the book Bold Vision by Gary Tonge , its a pretty good book , tried to emmulate some of his lighting techniques. I learned a pretty good deal so it was fun , Took me about 5 hours , I could probably do it alot faster since I made a lot of mistakes early on , but hey you now I know next time. I am going to do another one just to try to see if I can emulate decent lighting but at a faster pace. Ill be uploading my fire fighter character designs too!!

wip . Decided to go back to the old pencil and paper . Working on a run down environment concept. The line work is decent enough for me at this point . I am going to do some lighting tests in photo shop and possibly do a basic 3d model for some ambient occlusion paint over goodness!

Practice

Practice Makes Permanent . I officially made it a habit to attend life drawing 3 times a week . I think Charles Hu is getting rather sick of me but that guy is legit! Such a huge inspiration and it makes me want to do life drawing everyday. It really it is the key to being a skilled concept artist. I hope I can get enough money to go to the Gary Myers Workshop at his studio.

desert concepts , again trying to explore different styles . tried to go for a more cartoon style than realistic . Start with some initial pencil drawing and value studies . then went to some quick color studies . then did the final version . Enjoy

Environment Concept I am currently fleshing out . Ill upload the color version painting soon. I hope . Probably will be adding the props for it first!!

totoro!

needed a break from all the stress concepts can bring at times . apparently they want to tear down the forest that inspired Miyazaki to create Totoro. Ne ways a bunch of artists are doing art pieces and holding a gallery to raise money to save the forest. Google Totoro forest project! It's pretty cool . Ne ways here is totoro chillin at the ocean!!!
